About

Blackbird Beauty Bar is a quiet, intentional space for holistic skin care, nervous system support, and deeply restorative treatments in the heart of Hanna, AB. Every service here is designed with the understanding that skin is not separate from the rest of the body — it reflects our hormones, our stress levels, our environment, and the seasons of life we are moving through.

 

I’m Lindsey — a holistic esthetician — and I created Blackbird as an alternative to rushed, aggressive, or trend-driven beauty culture. Here, we slow down. We listen to your skin. We work with your body, not against it.

My approach blends modern skin science with traditional practices like facial massage, lymphatic drainage, herbalism, and low-tox living. I formulate many of the products used in the studio myself, including tallow-based skincare and herbal preparations, so I can stand behind every ingredient that touches your skin.

Whether you’re coming in for a facial, brow service, or hair removal, my goal is the same: to help you feel cared for, regulated, and confident in your skin — not just when you leave, but long-term.

Hours

I am a mother first.
Being a stay-at-home parent is my primary role, and my work at the Beauty Bar is scheduled thoughtfully around my family and my husband’s full-time work schedule.

Because of this, my availability is not set to traditional “business hours” and may change seasonally.

Summer (May–August):
My husband’s work schedule varies in the summer, and I typically receive his confirmed schedule in late spring. During these months, I am open for appointments as availability allows.

Fall–Spring (September–April):
I am generally open:

  • 1 weekend day per week, and

  • 1–2 evenings per week, depending on client demand and family rhythm.

The most accurate way to view my current availability is always through the Book Now button, which shows all open appointments in real time.

For ongoing updates — especially during seasons with changing schedules — I recommend subscribing to my email list, where I share monthly availability and announcements.

Beauty Bar FAQ

What makes Blackbird Beauty Bar different from a traditional spa?

Blackbird is a one-on-one, holistic studio. Appointments are unrushed, treatments are customized, and the focus is on long-term skin health rather than quick fixes. I work with the nervous system, lymphatic system, and skin barrier — not just the surface of the skin.

Do you use “natural” or medical-grade products?

I use a carefully curated mix of low-tox, thoughtfully sourced professional products and handmade formulations created in-house. Everything is chosen for efficacy, ingredient integrity, and skin compatibility.

Are your services safe for sensitive skin or during pregnancy/postpartum?

Yes. Many of my clients are pregnant, postpartum, or have sensitive or reactive skin. Please note this when booking so your service can be adjusted appropriately.

Do you offer consultations?

Every facial includes a skin analysis and discussion of your goals. Virtual skincare consultations are also available if you prefer guidance from home.

Do I need to know what service to book?

Not at all. If you’re unsure, choose a facial time length that fits your schedule and budget — your treatment will be customized to your needs during your appointment.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

A calm, unhurried experience. We’ll talk about your skin, lifestyle, and concerns, then move into a treatment designed specifically for you. You’ll leave with simple, realistic home care guidance — no pressure, no overwhelm.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee, as appointment times are reserved just for you.
